Creative Un-block

It's been over a month since my last post. January always seems to be a difficult month for me. The weather is grey and wet and dark which seems to make me feel lethargic, sad and uninspired. So, I started my year off with a creative block that I am just now breaking out of. The full mind numbing block lasted about 2 weeks until I found a project to help pull me out of it. I am now getting back to the paintings I was working on at the end of December!
I have found that the best way to get out of a funk is to find a project. I often switch mediums and do something different to help get my brain inspired again. This drawing (which turned into an elaborate card) was my 'get out of this funk/Valentine themed project,' which was quite successful. I had a bunch of weird dreams a few weeks ago and this image came from them.

I also completed an 8" by 10" ink pointe shoe painting as well as the cover of this cute little moleskine notebook.
I am consciously trying to balance the amount of dance themed art with my collaborations and other themes so there is something for everyone. I have not quite mastered this but I am trying. :)
While I was stuck in a funk Sebastian was making music like a crazy man. He put together a one hour hip hop mix using his own beats and classic songs. This has been my painting soundtrack the past week and I highly recommend it!
